On my recent trip to Bandung, Indonesia last October 2009, I managed to score myself a “Dummy” Dunny aka bootleg ! While bootlegs have existed for quite a while now, this is the first time I’ve personally come across one, in hand … unfortunately there was only one single box left taunting me from the toyshop display shelf (yes, I would have bought them all, to use as custom parts, of course), and all I can do now is to present to you, my dear faithful readers, a visual-guide to bootleg Dunnys LOL ~ CLICK THRU for more! PACKAGING-BOX : The box itself was perhaps the funniest aspect of the bootleg figure ~ featuring one-part Dunny, one-part “Dalek-series”, complemented with a wallpaper-ish design and pseudo-legit “Kidrobot” trademarks and all at the base.

I reckon either or both the music video director and art director (for Owl City ‘s ” Fireflies ” / shown above) loves their designer and kaiju vinyls, what with the appearances of characters from MAD and Max Toy Company peppered throughout the video, amidst retro tin toys! Sometimes it does pay to vegge out in front of the teevee! ~ And so I had to track this video down, and yes, CLICK THRU for screengrabs galore! MADL: Phase 3 ‘s Aidamon and Slam party-on! Jure Gavran ‘s Scapegoat Billy letting it all hang out! For many exhibitors and visitors, the switch of venue to Olympia will be a return home – the Toy Fair was held at the Grand and National Halls at Olympia from 1994, before moving to the ExCeL Arena in 2001 – but for us at ToyTalk this will be a new experience. Having launched in 2006, the four previous Toy Fairs we’ve attended were all at the ExCeL.

The title is ” Incognito ” and the medium used are epoxy sculpt, acrylic paints, digital prints, and they are the custom-Playmobil creations of Daniel Yu ~ who is contributing Incognito for this year’s SMU Arts Festival entitled “Content: navigating a point”. Each head was sculpted and painted and the final piece was exhibited as digital prints of each individual head.
